The Puddle Jumpers - Snake Charmer (Federal)

4y ago

Brutal uptempo r'n'r instrumental with some latin flavour and a prominent horn riff, probably influenced by "tequila" as many other tunes of their time. It was penned by Johnny Gray and performed by the Snake Charmers. I couldn't find any info about the combo, but I'm inclined to think Johnny Gray was the jazz guitarrist from Oklahoma in an early recording here, the cool guitar makes me think so. In that case the band would be from parts out Oklahoma. It was released on Syd Nathan's Federal label out of Cincinatti OH back in 1958. Don't miss out the other side "mud puddle" listenable as well in my channel!
