Protect the Boy Scouts

4y ago

This is a 1 minute video of politicians arguing about which party is voting for or against the Boy Scouts, Democrats or Republicans. This is not a proper function of government. The First Amendment protects the Freedom of Association. Politicians and activists such as the ACLU are trying to stop the Boy Scouts from free assembly on public property. Their charge is that the Scout code of belief in God, and the resistance to Gay Scoutmasters supports the "establishment" of a religion by government. Boy Scout membership is a free choice by individuals. While one's choice of sexual preference should not be prohibited by government, neither should Boy Scouts be prohibited from selecting other values. The Constitution only says the Government shall not establish a state church. It expressly protects the free expression of religious belief.
