Pastor Patricia Spearman made Nevada history tonight as the first openly Gay woman to be elected to the Nevada legislature! She won her primary in a landslide against Senator John Lee an anti-equality, anti-environment, anti-choice long time member of the Good Ole Boys club. She achieved this through a coalition of Nevada progressive groups. She is only the second African American woman elected to the legislature. She is the Vice-Chair of the Stonewall Democrats of Southern Nevada. Congratulations Pat and all of the great Nevada groups who made this victory possible! This would never have happened without the 24/7 work of the Nevada Conservation League, Planned Parenthood, PLAN Action, Progress Now Nevada and scores of volunteers!
