Description

This was the first flying day of our trip to Lake Annecy in the French Alps from the 17th - 25th September 2011. The first two days were wet so we were raring to go! The launch site at Planfait has splendid views of Lake Annecy. The landing field has numerous dwellings nearby so more care in the landing approach is needed, particularly for those used to landing in open countryside! The wind is this region is usually driven by the heating and cooling of the mountains where in the British Isles the wind is invariably generated by pressure systems. This means that there is usually light wind on take off which favours a forward or alpine launch. Landings can be fast as wind on the landing fields is often light as well. In this video a number of our group perform forward launches and then we go on board with the helmet camera to enjoy a flight from Planfait to Perroix landing field. Pilots: Pete Gallagher, Anne Kelly, Malcolm Hanks, Roy Kelly, Michael Dixon and Richard Barker. Music: many thanks to Jeff Edwards for permission to feature his track "Why Don't You Ask".
