Description
One of the largest Jewish organizations in America "is effectively enforcing the blasphemy laws under the Shariah," according to a prominent author, blogger and rights activist. Pamela Geller, who writes at Atlas Shrugs and is the author of "Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance," made the comments to WND after the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles canceled a speech she had planned to give. According to the Los Angeles Times, Geller was to deliver a lecture Sunday to the Zionist Organization of America, but the event, scheduled at the federation facilities on Wilshire Boulevard, was canceled. "By canceling my talk, the LA Jewish Federation, one of America's largest Jewish organizations, is effectively enforcing the blasphemy laws under the Shariah," she said. "This defines the modern dhimmi Jew. A leading Jewish organization felt more comfortable silencing a fellow Jew who was addressing the greatest threat that Israel and the Jewish people are facing than standing up to pressure from Islamic supremacist hate groups that are either part of jihad organizations or actively support the destruction of the state of Israel," she said. She said it was key to the issue to note that the reason for her visit to Los Angeles in the first place was a human rights town hall. That event, "Summer Night for Human Rights," was held with a panel of 10 former Muslims, "who for the first time could tell their harrowing and heartbreaking tales of leaving Islam, and the ostracism and often life-threatening dangers they faced for doing so," Geller told WND. Officials with the center declined a request from the Times to comment. But there had been pressure from Muslim interests against Geller's event. Officials with a California branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations had issued a statement warning the Jewish center over its decision to "offer a platform to the leader of an anti-Muslim hate group." "We are extremely shocked and alarmed to see a mainstream Jewish organization associating itself with one of the nation's leading Islamophobes who doesn't hesitate to share the podium with European racists and whose admirers apparently include Norwegian mass killer Anders Breivik," said the Muslim organization of the Jewish group's plans. "Religious leaders and institutions have an increased and urgent responsibility to promote tolerance and mutual understanding among all Americans, instead of giving aid and comfort to fear-mongers like Geller." CAIR-California said the statement was on behalf of CAIR, the Islamic Circle of North America-Southern California, Islamic Shura Council of Southern California and others....
