Olympic Rock Paper Scissors (Classroom Physical Activity Breaks)

4y ago

Carlos Rodriguez and students of Rogers Street Academy demonstrate this non-elimination, competitive, active Rock Paper Scissors. This activity can be done with traditional rock paper scissors or the full body rock paper scissors demonstrated. Rock paper scissors is an excellent method of conflict resolution for students. If a dispute or argument over a game rule happens have the students do rock paper scissors to resolve it and have them start playing again. Grade Level: K-8 Addresses Wisconsin Physical Education Standard 1: "Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities," and Wisconsin Physical Education Standard 5: "Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings." Requires: no special equipment This video is shared as part of the Active Schools Initiative, which provides strategies to teachers and students for motivating students to be physically active outside of their physical education classes. Video produced in 2010-11 by Milwaukee Public Schools with support from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Thanks to Carlos Rodriguez, Rogers Street Academy, and the students!
