Open Cities – Open Innovation in the Public Sector Open Cities is a new EU project comprising 7 cities: Helsinki, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, London-Nesta and Barcelona aiming at exploring the concept of Open Innovation in the context of Smart Cities through pilots on Crowdsourcing, Open Data, Open Sensor Networks, Urban Labs and Fiber Networks. We will discuss what has been done so far, next objectives and how Open Innovation is being translated and understood in Cities & the Public Sector paying particular attention to the new intermediaries that are emerging in this area. by Esteve Almirall on June 30th at 17:30 in Track II Esteve Almirall serves as Associate Professor in Esade Business Schoool focusing on Innovation and Innovation Management where he has more than 30 publications on the field. His background is a mix of Management Science (PhD) and Computer Science (MSC). Esteve is also highly involved in European Projects and EU organizations being Council Member of the ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs) and coordinating/participating in some EU projects on Innovation.
