NYC 2012 Technovation Challenge

4y ago

Technovation Challenge encourages high school girls to pursue careers combining technology and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to inspire them to see themselves not just as users of technology, but as inventors, designers, builders and entrepreneurs. Through the Technovation Challenge we partner high-school girls with university and professional women in computer science and technology over 10 weeks. The girls learn the basics of programming and develop phone apps using App Inventor (a Scratch-based, visual programming language). They also learn about entrepreneurship and marketing and pitch their idea to a panel of Venture Capitalists and industry experts at the end of the program. The NYC 2012 Technovation Challenge teams are presenting to Dennis Crowley (co-founder and CEO of Foursquare), Charles Best (founder and CEO of Donors Choose), Dennis Tisch (Managing Director, Techstars) and Donald Lacey (Director of Citigroup Global Markets Asia).
