The original Downtown 81. Sometime around early 1979 Walter Steding said to David Schmidlapp, " Let's make a movie" "About what? " " A new kid in town ,who checks out the scene and never sees any day light." " and who's also looking for a girl?" Later in the year David befriended a ten year old wayward, Andre Sykes and he became the lead in this underground classic.
