HELP US BY VOTING IN THE AVIVA COMMUNITY FUND FOR A CHANCE TO WIN $50-100 000!!! National Semi-Finals: Dec 5-16! Vote Daily! Vote here: http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf10939 Story Book Farm is a place of safety. We offer freedom from fear. We are a place of healing and recovery from trauma. In sanctuary care we encourage friendships between residents. We encourage exploration and freedom of choice. We give back the ability to make decisions and control events that affect resident's lives. Our human caregivers exercise deep listening skills to help address our resident's wants and needs. We strive for humility and parity and look at each day as a learning opportunity. We rescue primates from the exotic pet trade, sub-standard roadside zoos, entertainment and biomedical research. Currently, twenty-four primates live at the sanctuary, where they are cared for by a strong team of dedicated, knowledgeable volunteers. At SBFPS, we need to increase our space to help monkeys in our midst who are in dire need. This will be done by additional housing and upgrading the existing sanctuary space to provide tropical-like warmth in the winter. Upgrades will include greater energy efficiency, structural enrichment, more spaces to climb, walkways and stairs for older monkeys. New construction will include additional housing for up to twelve monkeys. Find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sbfps Twitter: www.twitter.com/SBFPrimateS
