Michelle Obama Praises U.S. Olympians America's First Lady Michelle Obama says it is an "otherworldly" experience for her to be in London to witness U.S. Olympians compete. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. FIRST LADY, MICHELLE OBAMA, SAYING: "Every few years these games bring pride, excitement and wonder to millions of people around the world, and that must mean so much to all of you, being part of giving so many people that much hope, and you never know who you're inspiring, you just never know." Speaking at the University of East London, where American athletes have a training facility, Obama said watching the Games had inspired her father, who suffered from multiple sclerosis, to retain his athletic spirit. Table tennis player Lily Zhang said being called a role model by the First Lady had inspired her and her team mates. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. OLYMPIC TABLE TENNIS PLAYER, LILY ZHANG, SAYING: "Yeah definitely when we were young we definitely always looked up to those great athletes, so hopefully now we can be an inspiration to others," The highlight of the First Lady's visit will be the Opening Ceremony - a three-hour extravaganza at the Olympic stadium built in a previously run-down area of east London.
