Michael Farfan and DC down the Union

1y ago

DC United have maintained their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference after a scrappy 1-0 win at the Philadelphia Union in the MLS. It was the hosts though who had the better of the early stages. A fine solo effort from Michael Farfan flew just wide of DC keeper Bill Hamid's left hand post. And Philadelphia continued to press in the first half. A corner was only partly cleared by the DC defence and the ball somehow found its way to Farfan once more. This time the midfielder went for the right hand side of the goal but the result was the same, the ball missing the target. And DC United made the hosts pay for their missed chances late on. A well worked freekick from Montenegran Branko Boskovic found Chris Pontius unmarked at the back post. The striker allowed to supply the simplest of finishes for his sixth goal of the season. One goal proved enough for DC United to stay top of the Eastern Conference, the Union are ninth. Bookmark: Subscribe - Twitter - Facebook Goal UK: Goal International:
