It follows the survivors of a modern plague which decimates mankind. The remaining survivors must fight and kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel (Troy Baker), a ruthless survivor, and Ellie (Ashley Johnson), a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States. The main focus of the game will be on story. The game was originally hinted at with trailers that showed riots and violence, as well as a clip of an ant infected with Cordyceps unilateralis, a dangerous parasitic fungi. The game was official revealed to be in development by a team a Naughty Dog at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards on December 10th. Before this reveal, the game had been in development for at least a year and a half. It is expected to be released in late 2012 or early 2013.
