Jelly d'Arányi (Jelly Arányi) (*30 May, 1893, Budapest; †30 March, 1966, Florence) recorded in 1928 The better known of the two Arányi girls Jelly, was a student of Jenő Hubay at the Budapest Academy of Music. At age 16 she got acquainted with concert halls. Following concert tours in Europe and overseas, in 1923 she settled at London. Bartók dedicated her two sonatas for violin and piano, and Rvel offered her his "Tzigane". Joseph Macleod wrote a monograph about the sisters, "The Sisters d'Arányi" was re-printed several times. In England, the D'Arányi String Quartet owes its name to the d'Arányi sisters.
