The death of their friend sparks a journey to Jerusalem, and the bedroom becomes a car, the North Island and James K. Baxter's grave. The Intricate Art of Actually Caring is the story of two young guys embarking on a road trip that becomes a spiritual journey to James K. Baxter's grave in remote Jerusalem, New Zealand. This slacker road trip story weaves witty banter and poetic ramblings with Hamlet-like probings of masculinity, mortality and growing up. Hip, funny and moving, it won "Best Theatre" in the NZ and Dunedin Fringe Festivals as well as "Most Original Production" at the 2009 Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards. It has been performed all over New Zealand in Auckland, Hamilton, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington.
