Human Trafficking of Sex Workers Red Light District Amsterdam (5 min vid)

4y ago

Human trafficking is the illegal trade in human beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor; a modern-day form of slavery. It is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, tied with the illegal arms industry as the second largest, after the drug-trade. According to a Dutch study done by the Rutgers Nisso Groep around 30,000 prostitutes work in the Netherlands. How many of them are forced to work is hard to say but the trafficking definitely is an issue. Interviews with Mariska Majoor (former prostitute, director of Prostitution Information Centre Amsterdam), Steve Chalke (Special Advisor UN on Community Actions against Human Trafficking, founder of Stop the Traffik), Antonie Fountain (director Stop the Traffik Netherlands) and Ed Anker (Member of Dutch Parliament, Christian Union).
