Getting a backstab (or a couple) and retreating using the Dead Ringer works really well as long as you can recharge your cloak with a nearby metal pick-up quickly. The Revolver combined with the Dead Ringer is a deadly combination that most players tend to underestimate. A Spy can do a lot of damage, fake his death, grab some metal, and come back and do more damage over and over with little worry of detection. The length of the cloak allows the Spy to retreat to a safe distance where the loud decloak sound cannot be heard. Sapping a level 3 sentry gun and using the Revolver to do additional damage takes it down very quickly. Even if you fail to destroy it, you can use the Dead Ringer to retreat and attack again very soon which halts the Engineer from building or maintaining sentries, teleporters, etc.
