Yesterday marked the hottest day so far this week... at 97 degrees. More heat and humidity today as the strong upper level ridge across the plains... midwest and Mississippi River valley builds east... and remains in control through the weekend locally. Sunshine and clouds today with an isolated shower or thunderstorm... mainly this afternoon and evening. Highs will reach the mid to upper 90s inland... to around 90 on the islands. Heat indices are likely to average around 105 for portions of this afternoon. Rain chances are very low for the weekend... only 15 percent chance for seeing a stray shower or thunderstorm... otherwise hazy sunshine... continued hot and humid with highs in the mid to upper 90s across the interior. Next week... a patter change develops in the southeast... as upper level troughing will build south across the eastern seaboard bringing better and solid chances for daily rain and also temperatures that will lower to seasonable.... and possibly even slightly below climatology by mid/late next week.
