Description
GK CSI comes at a very interesting time when Gawad Kalinga is just about to enter into the second phase of its GK2024 Vision. The first phase (2003-2010) was about social justice -- addressing social injustices by providing land for the landless, home for the homeless and food for the hungry. The second phase (2010-2017) is called social artistry -- re-imagining, re-painting and re-inventing how we look at GK communities by building intentional communities and making it sustainable; building a platform for national development. After building 2,000 villages and giving a sense of security and stability, the next question is how do we sustain our momentum and accelerate our livelihood, education and health programs to realize our 2024 vision of helping five million poor families get out of poverty? This is where CSI comes in. At the core of CSI is the concept of 'Bayanihan Economics' -- mixing the spirit of 'bayanihan' with the rigors behind business and economic development. The idea is to convince big businesses to have a bigger social conscience and to set up businesses that do not leave the poor behind thereby mixing lofty idealism with enlightened pragmatism. 1. Create an enabling environment for entrepreneurs to thrive. 2. Form entrepreneurs that are not only business-savvy and competent but are morally grounded and socially responsible as well. 3. Create a business ecosystem where like-minded and socially responsible entrepreneurs can help each other out and create a support system to build up their businesses faster. Concretely, GK CSI will set up a CSI Foundation that will run the following: A. Business Incubation and Mentoring Program -- to guide start-up business enterprises through a board of consultants. B. Business Idea Bank System -- to create a steady stream of business ideas and build up the knowledge capital. C. Networking nights -- to create an avenue where like-minded individuals can share their business ideas and meet other entrepreneurs, investors and potential business partners. D. Training Camps and Workshops -- to train entrepreneurs on how we can create profitable businesses that don't leave the poor behind. E. Partnership Management System Partnerships with all government agencies -- to create a system where entrepreneurs can easily transact, converse and work together with the different government agencies and create an atmosphere where public-private partnerships can really thrive Partnerships with corporations -- to create a steady stream of big brothers and supporters; to integrate all business entities and calibrate them towards creating more businesses here in the Philippines Partnerships with investors -- to create a steady stream of financial capital that can jumpstart and help seed more social enterprises Partnerships with schools -- to create a steady stream of graduates that are competent and confident enough to set up their own business; to create a steady supply of research work that can help set strategic business directions for GK CSI; to integrate the CSI philosophies and GK way into the schools' business syllabus; to connect classrooms to the communities. F. Twenty four (24) GK business hubs called Enchanted Farms all over the Philippines having at least the following: 1 hectare -- for a GK village 1 hectare -- for its food sustainability program 5 hectares -- for business development -- land will be cut up into 1,000 square meter lots and leased/sold to fifty business enterprises -- area will become the operations and demo site of these businesses -- 50 rest houses will also be set up to accommodate at least 500 people at any given time 2 hectares -- where a convention and training center will be built plus pocket gardens, wellness areas and dipping pools. These programs are geared to: (1) create Village Universities for the rising Filipino entrepreneur, where people can translate classroom theories into real businesses and where they can lea...
