'G.I. Joe 2' Delay To Resurrect Channing Tatum's Duke? Hmmm--- details coming your way! WE reported last week that GI JOE retaliation was moving from June 29th to March 29th, 2013---reasons were supposedly bc paramount wanted to add 3d---but this seemed kinda fishy to us all---really?! Delay a movie bc you suddenly think it needs to be in 3D?! We are thinking there were a few more factors at hand---for one, this summer is not an easy summer to debut in---weve got the avengers that are still hulk smashing box office records, mib3 which did pretty solid this past weekend, and ofcourse we have the dark knight and spidey still on their way to the silver screen---it goes without saying the competition is stiff. Deadline has revealed that another reason for the shift in release dates is the rising star power of Channing Tatum, who appeared as "Duke" in the original film and is revealed to be killed off early in the sequel from the trailers we've seen. Test screenings of the film have reportedly revealed that a huge negative for the audience was the relationship between Tatum's "Duke" and Dwayne Johnson's "Roadblock" not being able to develop into a friendship before he's killed off. Tatum's star power has been growing with recent hits 21 Jump Street and The Vow, plus he is getting a lot of buzz for his upcoming stripper film Magic Mike, which would have been G.I. Joe 2's toughest competition had it stuck with the original June 29th release. That being said, we are going to go ahead an jump to some conclusions, do you thik that this release date move has anything to do with re working duke into the script, im going to go ahead and say YES! And its not just bc I have been obsessed with tatum since step it up... But what do YOU guys think? About duke, the 3d aspect, and in general, the push back...let us know by commenting below and be sure to keep it locked right here on clevver movies, your number one source for movie news!
