Pledge today at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zombieorpheus/the-gamers-hands-of-fate About this project In The Gamers: Hands of Fate, the cast of internationally acclaimed The Gamers: Dorkness Rising returns for another dice-hurling, waffle-devouring, GM-infuriating romp through worlds of sword, sorcery, and surrealism. In Hands of Fate, the gamers must expand their horizons past pen-and-paper RPGs to explore two whole new realms of geekdom -- Collectible Card Games (CCGs) and game convention life -- and face off against their arch-nemesis: The Shadow! What is The Gamers? From its inception in 2001 in a college dorm basement, the oft-quoted and genre-inspiring The Gamers went on to become a viral online hit in the years before YouTube and is used to this day by role-playing gamers to show why they love gaming. Still beloved after over a decade, The Gamers is considered required viewing in RPG circles worldwide. Its sequel, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, is a feature film released in 2008 that exploded over Netflix and Amazon. It expanded the world of The Gamers, took an in-depth look at the lives and loves of gamers away from the table, and forever answered that age-old question: who would win in a fight, pirates or ninjas*? Since 2008, Gamers fans has been clamoring for another installment in the series. And who are you? We are Zombie Orpheus Entertainment and Dead Gentlemen Productions, creators of The Gamers, Demon Hunters, Wranglers of Death, and JourneyQuest (now in it second season, thanks to the success of last year's Kickstarter campaign!). We release our shows for free online under a Creative Commons license and are entirely Creator Distributed and Fan Supported. What is The Gamers: Hands of Fate? A feature film set several years after the events of Dorkness Rising, this film follows Lodge, Joanna, Cass, Gary, and Leo to Gen Con Indy, The Best Four Days in Gaming, to spend four days gaming. It's an ambitious project that we couldn't have made until now! In fact, we're shooting much of the film at Gen Con Indy in August of 2012 -- while this Kickstarter campaign is running -- in order to capture crucial footage we can only get at the convention itself. Following the conclusion of the campaign, we will move into preproduction for the rest of the shoot in October and November of 2012, then spend many months in post-production for an online release and premiere at Gen Con Indy in August 2013. Will my favorite characters return? Yes! All of the leads from Dorkness Rising and their fantasy counterparts will be returning for the new adventure: Cass (Brian Lewis), Gary (Christian Doyle), Lodge (Nathan Rice), Joanna (Carol Roscoe), and Leo (Scott C. Brown). Jen Page will be returning as Luster and as a new character in the real world. You can count on appearances and cameos from many of your favorite actors from the DG/ZOE community, and we have uncovered some brilliant new talents and characters to share with you. Why this story? Of all the stories we considered, this is the one that we felt most passionate about. We wanted to innovate and try something new, while still retaining the comedy and heart of the prior films. (We also start to reveal more pieces of the meta-story we've been telling with every one of our projects since the beginning, including how The Gamers ties in with JourneyQuest.) At the end of the Dorkness Rising, Lodge had completed a major character arc and finally learned to trust his players. In Hands of Fate, Cass must learn how to play a collectible card game in order to impress a girl and to prove there's not a game in the world he can't beat.
