Description
Having now recorded a few of my own interpretations of fleet foxes tracks, i decided after listening to their debut album in the car earlier this year, that meadowlarks had sprung a new affinity on my ears. I then played it back whilst at the piano and established the main chords. After a few listens, i then purposely did not listen to it again for a while, so that i could craft my own interpretation. This particular piece certanly pays hommage to the choral part writing of the original, and i've attempted to reflect this with some of my piano voicing. I don't think there's been another album that's come out this millenium that's struck such a chord with me (excuse the pun) I've included samples of hummingbirds, i've recorded my self on a vo-coder singing the words "hummingbird" and i layered this all with an Italo organ underneath the piano, as well as developing some of my own melodies towards the end. I hope you enjoy and bathe in this piece, and make sure you listen to the original too. This track will also be available on my up and coming new CD - Re:Works Volume 1.
