Bronwyn was diagnosed with AML, pediatric leukemia, on Jan. 15th, 2012. After 3 1/2 months of in hospital chemo treatment she suffered heart failure due to the treatment. With only 20% heart function left her family was told she would not survive. Along with the excellent care she received at Sick Kids in Toronto she held on long enough for her blood cell counts to recover from the chemo and have a heart pump, LVAD, installed on June 6th. She is now in recovery. She will be the first patient to be discharged from Sick Kids with a VAD as she waits a new heart. http://www.facebook.com/Bronwyn.vs.leukemia
