Description
B.C. FRANKLIN RECREATION CENTER is among several centers now closed and soon will be demolished. Built with funds from the federal government's Model Cities Program, the center was named after attorney Buck Colbert Franklin who saved the Greenwood community in the aftermath of the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921. Colbert won his case in the State's Supreme Court when the city of Tulsa attempted to push its residents out of the famed Negro Wall Street of America.
