Description
The Ensemble Showcase aims to assist acting students & actors to bridge the gap between semi-professional and professional work by helping them take the leap into a rigorous level of auditioning, rehearsing and performing all within the supportive and encouraging atmosphere of Darlo Drama. The course is an opportunity to showcase your talent with a view to getting work in the industry. The audition process will be rigorous with a prepared monologue required and invitation to a call-back as part of the final casting*. The chosen script will be a two-act contemporary Australian Drama and will be a forum for the 8 actors of The Ensemble Showcase to explore humanity on the stage, to connect personally to the work and to approach their craft with dedication, generosity and spirit. Rehearsals will run as they would at a professional level, with an expectation of a minimum level of talent and training for all members of the ensemble and a high level of commitment to every step of the process. The course will culminate in an Industry Night where agents, casting agents, fellow students, teachers and directors will be invited to attend the showcase on the Darlinghurst Theatre Stage. Focus: - Working closely with a small cast of dedicated student actors to build an ensemble - Finding truth on the stage and deepening performance ability - Learning to respond fully to direction and ask questions of the text - Becoming a more flexible actor and pushing your limits - Professional level experience on the stage from audition through to rehearsals and performances - Building industry contacts and showcasing talent - Career guidance
