Hugo Chavez, the Venezeulan president, has made nationalising private industry one of the staples of his presidency. Now, the man who called for a Bolivarian revolution in his nation wants to do the same for a caribbean beach resort. Since 2002, the Chavez government has taken over almost 1,000 foreign and domestic companies, now, they have their sites set on the exclusive island of Los Roques. The government in Caracas wants to turn this island on the northern coast of Venezuela from a vacation spot of foreigners and wealthy Venezuelans to push his plans to boost state tourism and draw thousands of people from all over the South American country to the island. Al Jazeera's Teresa Bo reports from Los Roques.
