Description
You've seen ballroom dance on TV shows such as DANCING WITH THE STARS and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Now, with BURN THE FLOOR, you can feel - live on stage - all the passion, the drama and the sizzling excitement of twenty sexy and sensual ballroom and Latin world champion dancers in a true theatrical experience. Since 1999, BURN THE FLOOR has reinvented and changed all perceptions of Ballroom! From Harlem's hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba and Salsa steamed up the stage, BURN THE FLOOR takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance. The elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of the Jive, the intensity of the Paso Doble - audiences will experience them all, as well as the Tango, Samba, Mambo, Quickstep and Swing. Direct from smash hit runs on Broadway and in London's West End, BURN THE FLOOR visited Joburg Theatre in 2011, breaking box office records and creating a buzz around town that hadn't been heard for years. The critics raved. "Finally we have an international show that lives up to its extravagant pre-publicity...We don't often see a show of this calibre," said artslink.co.za. "Breathtaking performers...high octane entertainment...a spontaneous standing ovation," said the Star Tonight. The demand to bring BURN THE FLOOR back again was incredible, coming from across South Africa. So we are proud to bring you BURN THE FLOOR - THE TEMPERATURE RISES TOUR: at the Opera House at Artscape, Cape Town, from July 11th 2012; The Mandela at Joburg Theatre from August 1st; and the Opera Theatre at Durban Playhouse from August 22nd. Featuring the original Broadway company of dancers. Don't miss it! EVERYONE will be talking about it......It creates so much on-stage energy, "the stage heats up way past boiling point" (Business Day, SA). It's simply Ballroom! Reinvented!
