Description

Depending upon who you speak with, what you're about to see is not possible. A dog walking unleashed, no remote shock collar, no other means of "control". Simply not possible. "Sure, but how about doing the same with distractions!" The person who makes that kind of comment has no idea how interesting a forest full of birds, other animals, sounds and smells can be to a hunting dog - yes, Flat-Coated Retrievers are hunting dog. They are considered to be both "sight" and "nose" dogs. Key on sight, once near, find with nose. Now I'm under no illusion, that ANYONE is going to watch 12 minutes of hiking through the Black Forest - unedited. But read that word again. UNEDITED. No cutting out of whoops', no glossing over double-cues with beautiful or otherwise music. This is REAL LIFE with a dog who has been trained using solely FORCE FREE methods. No positive punishment (google it). No shock, no prong, no choke collar, no chemical spray, no yelling or intimidation. What you would see if you would watch the whole film is not the result of what is derogatorily called "purely positive" methods. They don't exist. But what you would see is the product of purely FORCE FREE methods, which are designed to help build a relationship based upon co-operation between human and animal. And they say, this cannot be done. Well, "they" say a lot of stuff. All training done with Clicker Training techniques (with and/or without clicker) - 1) using positive reinforcement, 2) no punishments entailing physical or psychological intimidation, fear or pain, 3) no traditional corrections And NO SHOCK COLLARS - to see what shock collars are all about: http://www.auf-den-hund-gekommen.net/-/experiment1.html (posted now) http://www.auf-den-hund-gekommen.net/-/experiment2.html (end of July 2012) http://www.auf-den-hund-gekommen.net/-/experiment3.html (end of September 2012) Leonard "Buzz" Cecil, cert.CBST*, CTDI** & TDCH** is a member of: Pet Professional Guild (Charter Member & Steering Committee), AABP, PDTE & VdTT e.V. *Cert.
