Description

~ ♥ ~ Namasté [translation of the initial russian titles as follows] Sri Ramana Maharshi - The Archival Films - 1935 to 1950 As the 20th century comes to a closeand we reflect on the teachers and teachings that most influenced the last hundred years, Sri Ramana Maharshi stands out as one of the greatest seers of our time. Nearly fifty years after he shed his mortal frame, ever more seekers the world over are earnestly turning to the Maharshi and his teachings. From 1935 to 1950, a number of visitors to Sri Ramanasramam shot films of the Maharshi and his environs. Taken mostly by his devotees, these films give us a remarkable opportunity to view a fully enlightened sage who, in the 20th century, lived like an ancient rishi of yore. What you are about to see is a series of films arranged in chronoligical order, starting November 29, 1935 and ending on April 15, 1950. Over the years many of these films were not only altered but subjected to the climatic extremes of South India, resulting in considerable deterioration. In 1990, the complete collection of archival films was brought to the U.S.A. for restoration, preservation and editing. Of all the film footage included here, only two sections were professionally produced with a soundtrack. These two films were created by the Indian Information Bureau as newsreels and shown in Indian cinema houses. This video is a visual document of a man made perfect by virtue of a unique destiny. Spiritual freedom, eternal peace and joy can be realized by those devoted seekers whose destinies are linked to the Sage of Arunachala, Sri Ramana Maharshi. ~ Aum Namo Bhagavate Sri Ramanaya ~
