The reason for this special announcement today is to inform potential buyers who hold contracts at the under construction Cosmopolitan resort that the owner of the project, Deutsche bank is not playing ball with buyers. I had a recent experience with this particular development which to my surprise didnt pan out the way I thought it would. You see I have a close friend who currently has a condo under contract at the cosmopolitan and would like to close escrow when the time comes but he felt that since City Center, which is right next door to the cosmopolitan, slashed their pricing by 30% due to the current market conditions that The Cosmopolitan should do so as well. My friend approached Deutsche bank and let them know he is more than happy to close with cash on his unit and not join the lawsuit against them which is seeking deposit money to be returned to contract holders for breach of contract as long as they decided to lower his purchase price by at least 30%. To mine and his surprise Deutsche bank declined and said they are not going to lower prices for any buyer and then directed him to join the lawsuit against them. This was absolutely shocking. Now that this and other new developments have come to light with the cosmopolitan leads me to believe that Deutsche bank has no intention of helping buyers close on their units. I feel that this move by Deutsche bank has set the stage for the scrapping of the Condo Hotel idea for the Cosmopolitan and opened the door for this property to potentially become a strictly resort style property offering no condo hotel component.
