Follow us on YouTube and and never miss an episode: May 13 is National Apple Pie Day, and we're celebrating by showing you our version of the all-American dessert! Apple Pie Day - Karena's favorite dessert! - Dutch Apple Pie Filling: 5 medium apples, peeled and sliced 1/4 cup sugar (half Stevia/half organic sugar) 1/4 cup organic light brown sugar 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon nutmeg 3 packets protein powder 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 3 tbsp Applesauce Crust: Pre-made whole wheat crust from Whole Foods Topping: 4 packets Perfect Fit Protein - (3/4 cup) 1/4 cup sugar (half Stevia/half organic sugar) 1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed 1/3 cup vegan butter butter substitute Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 375 F. 2. Combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown rice protein powder and lemon juice in a bowl. Mix well to coat the fruit. 3. Fill pie plate with the apple mixture. 4. Sprinkle topping mixture evenly over the apples in the crust. 5. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
