Description
Diabetic's Institute Pakistan (DIP) is the leading organization for Diabetes Management, Treatment, Education and Counseling in Pakistan. Dr. Sadaqat Ali, Project Director of DIP, laid its foundation in June 1997. We have a prolific team of highly qualified and experienced Diabetologists, Diabetes Educators, Psychologists and Counselors. Today, DIP continues to provide world-class diabetes care, education, publications and research that meet the needs of patients and their families. We continue to shape the community and help people live well with diabetes. The Institute was founded on the belief that the key to success of diabetes treatment is with patient-empowerment with diabetes education and life style change. People who get diabetes are strangely blessed for the rest of their lives. We believe that persons suffering from it can lead a beautiful, healthy life. A life that is even better than the one they had before developing this disease. This is achieved as a by-product of the lifestyle change diabetes-management entails. This change is conducive to prevention/ management of other health concerns such as: stress-management, heart disease, obesity etc. Education is imperative for the effective management of this chronic disorder. Diabetic's Institute conducts seminars, awareness programs and educational sessions for patients and their families. When diabetes hits home you need to talk to somebody who is knowledgeable and empathetic. There is a 24 hours helpline to give situational solutions. Education and counseling have made it easy for our patients; managing diabetes is no more a problem. Diabetes is a disorder which, if managed well, does not remain a dis-ease. Therefore, we are always there to direct our clientele towards a joyous present and an even better future. Simply because WE CARE! Diabetes affects more than 10 million children and adults in Pakistan -- 7% of the population. Moreover, recent studies show that caring for the type 2 epidemic in the world exacts a heavy financial toll of $174 billion a year, nearly as much as the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Global War on terrorism combined entail. It is exciting to witness the evolution of diabetes care at the Institute. This chronic illness, unfortunately, can also lead to the development of heart disease. Our Diabetes Heart Center addresses to this concern; advancing into innovative treatments to enhance the lives of our patients and their families, and consequently, making a significant impact on a major public health concern.
