Description

Amber Johnson, a member of Young Voices, talks about how students "... are the customer, the product of this educational system. And we all value our education." Our impact at the Regents meeting on October 22nd exceeded any of our expectations. More than 50 young people packed the room, from Young Voices, Youth In Action, the Youth4Change Alliance, Brown University, and our partners at Central Falls HS and Blackstone Academy. They were joined by more than 20 adults, including teachers and parents from the groups ESPEC and PEEC. The entire room was filled with purple t-shirts and buttons, with only 4 speakers---of more than 40---not agreeing with our recommendations for making teacher standards stronger.
