Chris Wechner - The Ultimate Analyst - (248) 905-1290 http://www.TheUltimateAnalyst.com 4 Tips for Writing a Blog (See Below for Tips) 1. Know Your Goal • Are you trying to get them to buy something? • Are you trying to convince the viewer to do something, like sign a petition or leave contact info? • Are you trying to gain exposure as the EXPERT in your field? 2. Have a Message Make sure that you know what MESSAGE you want people to receive. Some people will talk without really knowing what they want the viewer to understand. If you need, write out your message in advance, and ask yourself WHY would they want to know this? Ask yourself whether this message answers THAT question! If YOU don't know why they should care, why should THEY care? 3. Be a Resource -- Not a Flagrant Advertisement Obviously, you want—and need—to market yourself. However, NOBODY wants to listen to a running advertisement. We all know that person who is always trying to sell us something—EVERY time we see them. Do you LOOK for excuses to see that person? More importantly, do you think they'll look for excuses to see YOU—if YOU do it? If you're a GENUINE RESOURCE, it does not matter whether you are a perfect writer. People want to learn things that will help them, and if you help them, they will forgive your IMPERFECT writing skills. Be a Resource—Not an Ad! 4. Market Your Blog The most obvious point—but most often overlooked—is to actually MARKET your blog posts. There are SO many blogs on the Net that most people are not just going to "find" you. You have to GO TO THEM. If you have a message and are a good resource, people will start looking forward to seeing your blog posts. Share your blog on social media sites, like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. If you have a picture, you might share that on Pinterst. I hope that these 4 tips for writing a blog was helpful. Did I leave out anything that might be important? Leave comments about things YOU suggest. Chris Wechner The Ultimate Analyst http://www.TheUltimateAnalyst.com (248) 905-1290
