On Saturday, August 4th, President Obama's birthday, two hundred and fifty volunteers from the Democratic National Convention Committee, Humana Inc., KaBOOM!, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership gathered at the Village of Rosedale Apartments in Charlotte to build a playground and adult fitness stations for local residents. Volunteers erected a jungle gym, assembled benches, planted trees, spread mulch, and laid cement to create an entire park facility in six hours. The playground, designed with input from the local community, will provide a much-needed gathering space for fun and fitness for residents young and old. This day of service will go towards the convention committee's pledge to complete 2,012 hours of community service before the start of the Democratic National Convention in September.
