Description
29th Annual McDonald's Gospelfest Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. This sold out event, over18,000 people, featured a healthy dose of religious competition in genres from Gospel Rap to Dance to Solo to Choir and more. Headliners were Shirley Caesar, Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary, Fred Hammond, Vickie Winans, Cissy Houston and Steve Harvey. It is amazing to note that over 80,000 people auditioned from all over the world and 1,000 competitors made it to the McDonald's Gospel Fest. The 2012 McDonald's Gospel Fest winners are as follows -- In the Gospel Rap category -"Che Che da Supastar" from East Orange, NJ. In the Praise Dance Solo Category - Trio Isaac Zellner from Freeport, NY. In the Step category -- 'Steppers With Class' from Poughkeepsie, NY. In the Praise Dance Group Category - Jah 'Kev Prod. Performance Ensemble from Winston-Salem, NC. In the Adult Choir Category - Greater Central Jersey Community Choir from Plainfield, NJ. In the Group Category - Evangelist Barbara Daniels and God's Gift from Passaic, NJ. In the Spanish Language Solo Category - Denise Perez from the Bronx, NY. In the Adult Solo Category - Jose Figueroa, Jr. from the Bronx, NY. In the Teen Solo Cetegory - Chaude Cymone Taylor from Central Islip, NY. In the Youth Choir Category - Joy Unlimited Youth Choir from Philadelphia, PA. The McDonald's Gospelfest is made possible by the McDonald's Tri-State Owner/Operator Association which has awarded millions of dollars in scholarship money. The McDonald's Gospelfest competition aids as a fundraising event, which supports education opportunities within local communities. There are more than 600 McDonald's restaurants, owned by 100 franchisees, located throughout the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state area.
