Description

Sven Egenhoff, associate professor in the Department of Geosciences in Colorado State University's Warner College of Natural Resources, was born in Germany, and raised in Germany, Iran, and Argentina, which helped shape his career path as a geologist. We are proud to announce that Professor Egenhoff is a 2012 Best Teacher. For five years, Dr. Egenhoff was a lecturer at Technische Universität Bergakademie in Freiberg, Germany before coming to Colorado State University in 2006. Dr. Egenhoff's areas of expertise are understanding sedimentary processes in carbonates and shales, and applying depositional models to characterize oil and gas reservoirs and to reconstruct fossil habitats of long extinct animal groups such as graptolites. From the nominations: "He almost always seemed like he had fun giving his lectures, which made the class a lot more interesting and entertaining. When he gives his lectures on carbonates, he lights up." -- Allison Mast ('12) The Colorado State University Alumni Association and its affiliate student group, the Student Alumni Connection, recognize outstanding CSU educators each year with Best Teacher Awards. This year, six CSU teachers were selected from 100 nominations. For more videos about CSU, check out Colorado State University's YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/coloradostateuniv
