PRIME INTEREST: Money to be Made on Immigration Reform? Celente Blasts The Temple of Money Lenders [12] Subscribe here for more Max Keiser & Financial crisis news: http://www.youtube.com/user/CapitalWatch?feature=mhee Here's what's in your Prime Interest today: Remember John Paulson? No, not Hank Paulson, Bush's Treasury Secretary who pushed TARP. I'm talking about John Paulson who shorted subprime and made billions for his hedge fund. Now he's long Fannie and Freddie, along with some other hedge funds, who bought preferred shares to match Uncle Sam's investment. Senator Bob Corker characterized the stock as a "lottery ticket." But that hasn't stopped a runup in price of over 170% in the last two months. Just last week, Fannie Mae announced it will repay the Treasury $59 billion for bailout money it took during the crisis. But this is a one-off event that's only possible because of an accounting change in deferred tax assets. Good luck, Mr. Paulson! And the "Bloomberg-gate" scandal continues, as financial heavyweights engage in dialogue with the embroiled market data provider. Clients, including China's central bank, the Federal Reserve and the FDIC, have inquired about data confidentiality issues. And JP Morgan, not short of problems itself, is having "serious dialogue" with Bloomberg and "considering its options." The chief executive of Bloomberg LP has personally reached out to 300 clients and apologized. Also the Gang of 8 has introduced a bill that would reform out countries immigration laws. The bill paves the path to citizenship for nearly 11 million immigrants. The bill includes a $4.5 billion plan to gain "effective control" of the Mexican border states. Implementation of the E-Verify system, increase in highly skilled worker visas and a new "W" visa for low-skilled workers. But how economically feasibly and reasonable is this this bill? Is it filled with loopholes for the special interest groups? Today, we talk to Will McBride the Chief Economist at the Tax Foundation and Mike Coleman Washington's bureau chief of the Albuquerque Journal, New Mexcio's largest newspaper. Plus, four times a year Gerald Celente, founder of the Trends and Research Institute, publishes the Trends Journal. The most recent journal featured a wide range of topics including the Arab Spring, the Cyprus bail-ins, as well as the influence of the "Goldman Gang." We speak with him about central bank policy, currency wars, and the state of US and European politics. Lastly, HSBC, Europe's largest bank, has so far gotten off with a wrist slap for money laundering suits in the U.S. and Europe. But it now faces new money laundering charges in Argentina. This is the country that hoards one in fifteen U.S. bills, according to Bloomberg. But HSBC's troubles don't end there. They recently reported they will eliminate as many as 14,000 more jobs, as they seek to cut an additional $3 billion of costs. We remember the last time a major bank got caught neck deep in a money laundering scandal. It was Wachovia, to the tune of $300 billion. And only months later it would be subsumed by Wells Fargo in the financial panic.
