Description

[Brian Unger and some locals travel back in time to Baltimore and Los Angeles for two very different American stories. First, Unger and his guests time travel to Baltimore at the height of the War of 1812. They start their journey at Fells Point, a major shipyard during the war, where some of the most famous schooners were built -- including the Pride Of Baltimore. The group sets sail on a replica called Pride of Baltimore II, and the schooner transforms in front of our eyes into its original 19th century glory. Next, the group is led through the actual Battle of Baltimore, where they fire cannons at British ships and attempt to sing the drinking song that eventually became our national anthem. Finally, the locals raise “the storm flag” to commemorate the American victory at Ft. McHenry. Then, it’s on to the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood, as Unger and his group get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the most famous historic hotels of Los Angeles. They begin at the Biltmore in the late 1920s, and discover the Academy Awards were actually conceived at the hotel in 1927. The hotel’s “Biltmore Bowl” morphs into the 1941 Academy Awards ceremony as our guests take their turn at the podium to accept their “Oscar.” Next, it's a tour of the ever-glamorous Beverly Hills Hotel, as its pool transforms to a time when Hollywood royalty worked their tans poolside. Finally, it's time for a tour of rock ‘n’ roll history as we travel to the late ‘60s and ‘70s to the Andaz Hotel, nicknamed the “Riot House.” No rolling stone is left unturned, as Keith Richards heaves a television set off the balcony and Robert Plant shouts, “I am a Golden God!” over Sunset Boulevard.
