Description
Charles 'Krazy Horse' Bennett Backround Bennett was born and raised in Ocala, Florida. He is the second-oldest of 11 siblings, who have 11 different fathers. Growing up, both of his parents abused crack cocaine and his home life was very troubled. He attended high school and was a star football player as a defensive tackle, linebacker, and running back, but eventually dropped out and began dealing drugs. After having his first child, he stopped selling drugs and began his career in MMA. At the beginning of his career, he didn't even train for his fights because he was naturally athletic and he was an exceptional fighter. He credits King of the Cage owner Terry Trebilock for helping him take his fighting career seriously. Bennett is also mentored by UFC fighter Rashad Evans. Mixed Martial Arts Bennett is known for his cockiness and arrogance, often playing to the camera, insulting other fighters, and even disrespecting the referee, both during interviews and in the ring. One of his trademark moves is to sit atop of the corner ropes after the opening bell rings, and attempt to double push kick his opponent as he rushes in. He is also known for jumping up on the cage during and after fights. His trademark move is a backflip of the top of the cage every match he wins. In 2005, Bennett was involved in a backstage altercation with Cristiano Marcello, member of Chute Boxe Academy at the Pride Shockwave 2005 in Saitama, Japan. In a video posted on Chute Boxe's official website, Bennett is seen attacking Chute Boxe fighter Cristiano Marcello. Bennett supposedly insulted the Chute Boxe Academy and Wanderlei Silva, prompting a scuffle between Marcello and Bennett, and Marcello put Bennett to sleep with a triangle choke before the fight was broken up. In 2007, Bennett missed a fight in San Jose, California, because he missed his flight from Florida—having just been released from jail. Recently, Bennett lost to longtime rival Victor Valenzuela in a rematch at ShoXC on August 25. Prior to the fight with Valenzuela, the two had fought to a controversial draw, which sparked the feud. On January 24, 2008, Bennett was supposed fight Victor Valenzuela in a King of the Cage event. However, Bennett was arrested for domestic dispute and faces several charges including strangulation. His bout with Valenzuela will be postponed. Bennett has also drawn criticism from the MMA community for claiming that ground fighting "is like making love, it's not real fighting." Bennett showed up at the tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck, but did not make it to the final cast. Legal troubles On August 4, 2000, Bennett was convicted in Marion County, Florida, of possession and sale of cocaine. In May 2007, Bennett was arrested on charges of assault and false imprisonment. _______________ Cristiano Marcello Cristiano Marcello da Silva (born December 3, 1977) is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and former Chute Boxe BJJ head coach currently signed with the UFC. Cristiano was also a competitor on The Ultimate Fighter: Live. Mixed martial arts career Pride Fighting Championships Cristiano fought for PRIDE Fighting Championships at the PRIDE Bushido 12 in August 2006. Marcello is widely known for a backstage altercation at PRIDE Shockwave 2005 in which Charles Bennett insulted the Chute Boxe Academy and Wanderlei Silva resulting in a fight between Marcello and Bennett, and Marcello put Bennett to sleep with a triangle choke before the fight was broken up. In January 2009, Marcello left the Chute Boxe Academy in Curitiba to go full on with his own martial arts academy, CM System, which opened its doors in March 2009. Despite leaving Chute Boxe, Marcello is still considered a BJJ coach, and continues to train Chute Boxe fighters out of his own gym.
