Description
The 8/1980 and newer FJ40 is the rarest of them all, and the most evolved mechanically. Featuring the same drive train found in the FJ60 up until 1987, this generation FJ40 has freeway friendly gearing, a larger gas tank, better parking brake, more responsive brake system, quieter transmission and transfer case design, and improved ergonomics thanks to floor tracks and reline functions on both front seats. This particular FJ40 has lived in Southern California it's whole life. It has been looked after with great care since new. The original owner had it set up with a tow bar, and it spent much of it's time in tow behind a motor home. The second owner is a military officer here in Southern California. While in his care, it has continued to be garage kept and well loved. The truck originally has graphic stickers on the body (applied by the original selling Toyota dealer). The previous owner removed these stickers, and replaced the front grill panel to eliminate a hole left from the removed tow electrical set up. The removal of the graphics damaged the original paint on the hard top side panels, and left a ghost image on the front doors. The doors are still 100% original paint and they are acceptable to run as they are. The side panels were repainted with care, but the paint color match is not correct. Auction is for the truck as shown, with the hard top as described and shown. You may choose to have us repaint the top and door panels, install new weatherstripping and headliner, and fit on the truck. You may decide the top panels are fine as they are for you (but you still should do at least the rubber), or you may decide to sell us the top and doors and run a soft top... totally up to you. TLC is the nations top Land Cruiser specialty shop, with dedicated departments for sales, service, parts and restoration. We count ourselves lucky if we find one or two FJ40 this nice in a year. You can literally spend years trying to find one so nice. Impeccable conditions in detail, no rust anywhere, no modifications, no excuses and no issues. Mechanically, it has been a proven reliable driver. We just got a fresh smog certificate on it (passed with ease), and it was serviced thoroughly by a trusted Toyota dealer in May of last year. Those repairs included new intake and exhaust manifolds, rebuilt carburator, vacuum lines, thermostat and gaskets, steering adjustment, major OEM tune up, fan belts, idler bearing, all hoses and clamps, wiper blades, all fluids and more (to the tune of over $6000! This Cruiser runs and drives very well, and still has stellar compression in the original engine. BEWARE FJ40's that have modifications, because passing smog can be a huge undertaking, consuming all your patience and a lot of money. A stock drive train late model FJ40 is the strongest Land Cruiser investment you can have, and enjoy. Any and all of our services and resources here at TLC are available to you and this truck, so let us know what suits your needs. Super rare opportunity. Grab it now! Here is a video showing the truck in detail! TLC is a licensed and bonded California dealer. Buyer will be responsible for $ document fees, and $ smog. In State buyers will also be responsible for DMV registration fees and taxes. Out of State buyers are welcomed. If we pay the transporter on your behalf, we do not need to collect Ca. sales tax. We have many trusted transport partners, for international and national shipping. Let us know if you need any quotes or assistance.
