Teaching Addition and Subtraction Effectively to ALL Children

6m ago
SOURCE

Description

Base 10, or Ten Land, is developmentally inappropriate for young children because many of them cant think logically about quantities as big as 10. In contrast, virtually all school-age children can think logically about quantities no bigger than 2 or 3, so how a number system works can be taught (1) effectively (2) the first time (3) to virtually all children if taught in Two Land (base 2) and Three Land (base 3) where quantities never exceed 2 or 3, respectively. Go to MOVE IT Math™ on the web @ moveitmaththesource.com for lessons using the Fair Lands™ blocks and Ten Land blocks to teach, with understanding, the concepts of base and place value, how a place value numeration system works, and the operations of addition and subtraction. The site is full of great basic math lessons that are effective with ALL children, including those who dont know what they ought to know by now and those who need enrichment. Please give us a chance to help you boost grades, increase test scores, and improve attitudes. EVERYONE can learn and like math. We are new to the web but have been making that happen for more than 35 years!
