Description

A group of Good Samaritans was praised over the weekend for their quick thinking and heroic actions after they discovered three teens trapped in an SUV overturned in a river. Leo Montoya Jr. said he was the first to enter the water. He said other bystanders stood in shock until he encouraged them to help turn the vehicle back over. Other witnesses said that as soon as others saw what Montoya was doing, people flocked to join him. The group was able to free the two passengers and turn the vehicle upright, but the driver was not freed until fire crews arrived. The vehicle had flipped and landed in the river after the driver lost control. Police said they are not yet sure what caused the crash, but speed is believed to have been a factor. Police told ABC 4 Utah Thursday evening that the three occupants of the car, all teenage males, were in the hospital following the wreck. The driver was in serious condition, and the passengers were in stable condition.
