Description

Here's my first pass at fine tuning the first two lines of the chorus, for one doubled vocal part. Not only do I adjust the pitch contour, but I attenuate the sibilants. After that, I make another pass to get the timing more in the groove, and see how it locks in with the double I already worked on. Finally, you can hear the before/after when I disable the plugin. Nothing drastic, but it definitely makes for a more engaging and emotional vocal! Skip to 11:55 if you just want to hear the final result. Yes, it's boring. For me too! It's hard, tedious, but ultimately necessary work. I spend a good portion of my professional life in Melodyne, mostly working on other peoples' vocals. The song is the appropriately titled "A Work in Progress" from my upcoming Color Theory EP, Adjustments Pt. 3.
