Description

A film poem that explores themes of Arcadian myth, drug-fuelled anomie and 17th century notions of melancholia. Referencing, variously, Robert Burton’s ‘The Anatomy of Melancholy’, Georges Bataille’s essays on surrealism in ‘The Absence of Myth’, Walter Benjamin’s attempt to dialectically synthesise historical materialism with Jewish mysticism and featuring a sinister interjection by actor Tam Dean Burn the film wanders lazily through, lingers amongst and lovingly wallows in the age-old aristocratic detritus littering a 17th century castle set somewhere deep in rural Scotland.
