Description

“Happy Birthday” will soon be available to the public after music publisher Warner/Chappell agreed to pay $14m to settle the lawsuit challenging its right to the song. Warner/Chappell bought the rights for $22m in 1988 and has since collected millions from people who use the song in movies and television shows. However, a US district judge ruled last year that Warner/Chappell did not own the lyrics to the song, just some of its musical arrangements. We look at the settlement on the Lip News with Jo Ankier and Elliot Hill. http://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/feb/09/happy-birthday-song-lawsuit-warner-chappell-settlement?utm_medium=email&utm_source=flipboard Newest Lip News playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5-Sz0Yclnw&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGcjJDo6cQBCQprDMQyUQY3r&index=1 CRIME TIME clips playlist – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq_o-wjr6kI&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGeC9DbpSnIvd2i9BHh2dBvv&index=1 BYOD (Bring Your Own Doc) Highlight Videos- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FvOss8KGy8&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGeu2DCf6Ouo7hTsA5QB2MAL&index=1 MEDIA MAYHEM short videos playlist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLnhTP3rzuM&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGcz4un-zws5sMlCLk3NNjDP&index=1 http://www.thelip.tv https://www.facebook.com/thelip.tv http://www.youtube.com/theliptv
