Description

Morning Glory Waltz, performed by the Chicago-based guitar/ mandolin duo The Last Kind Words. This is the title track from their first LP. This performance is based on a 1930 recording by a Mississippi Sheiks offshoot called the Mississippi Mud Steppers. The original 78rpm record was paired with Farewell Waltz, and, unusually for an African-American string band, was released on OKeh's Old Time Tunes Series. The Last Kind words are Geoff Farina, guitar, and Kenneth Rainey, mandolin. http://thelastkindwords.com The film footage is comprised of time-lapse shots of fungus growing, culled from a 1930 newsreel called 'Plants of the Underworld.'
