Manhattan Edit Workshop presents: Sight, Sound & Story - Michael Kahn, ACE on Raiders of the Lost Ark. From Sight, Sound & Story - June 14th, 2014. Michael Kahn, ACE is an American film editor. His credits range from TV's Hogan's Heroes to feature films directed by George C. Scott (“The Savage is Loose”) and Steven Spielberg, with whom he has had an extended, notable collaboration over more than thirty years. “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (later marketed as “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” and often referred to simply as “Raiders”) is a 1981 American fantasy adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. It was produced by Frank Marshall and Howard Kazanjian, executive produced by George Lucas, written by Lawrence Kasdan and based on a story of George Lucas and Philip Kaufman. Starring Harrison Ford, it was the first installment in the Indiana Jones film franchise to be released, though it is the second in internal chronological order. It pits Indiana Jones (Ford) against a group of Nazis who are searching for the Ark of the Covenant, which Adolf Hitler believes will make his army invincible. The film co-stars Karen Allen as Indiana's former lover, Marion Ravenwood; Paul Freeman as Indiana's nemesis, French archaeologist René Belloq; John Rhys-Davies as Indiana's sidekick, Sallah; Ronald Lacey as Gestapo agent Arnold Toht; and Denholm Elliott as Indiana's colleague, Marcus Brody. Sight Sound and Story is an annual event presented by Manhattan Edit Workshop that brings audiences "behind the scenes" with legends of visual storytelling. Each year the one day summit brings together a collection of diverse and intriguing high-profile speaker series to discuss the evolving world of post-production. Panels topics include the art and processes of editing film & television, exploring ground-breaking interactive media, experiencing the magic of feature sound design, taking a look at the vital roles of the VFX artist, and deconstructing key scenes from fiction and documentary favorites Like us on Facebook at Sight, Sound & Story: https://www.facebook.com/InsideCuttingRoom?ref=bookmarks Follow us on Twitter: @SightSndStory / https://twitter.com/SightSndStory Manhattan Edit Workshop is a New York Film Editing School offering a full range of basic to advanced manufacturer certified training courses, from the Avid, Autodesk, Assimilate and Apple products to the complete suite of Adobe applications.
