Description

Despite having to endure a devastating hurricane, national economic crisis and the loss of the NY Islanders hockey team, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano reflected the other night at Oheka castle at the 2013 Nassau County Independent Party Freedom awards, on why he is very optimistic as the island begins to enjoy true spring weather. Mr. Mangano feels county residents along with himself are tougher, more resilient, compassionate and smarter as the clean up and rebuilding from Hurricane Sandy continues. As FEMA check along with state and national assistance arrives allowing for construction to start, Mr. Mangano reflects on how the country came together for those dreaded weeks but never came apart. The shock of losing the NY Islanders franchise is wearing off as the county will decide next month on a new plan to re-invent the Mitchell Field Complex to create a multi-use sports, entertainment, education and retail zone that Long Island or the region has never seen before. As the economy continues to improve slowly, global company's like Hain Celestial haves chosen to make Nassau County its home which will encourage other scientific, medical, educational and research firms to do the same. As many Long Islanders look back on a difficult 2012 year, the Nassau County Executive says he is more optimistic than ever on what yet is to come. Bader TV News Long Island field team sat down with the county executive for this reflective interview.
