Description

Encouraging entrepreneurship in Europe is a key part of the EIT's mission. Sunuru is one of the 9 companies that was selected by EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (here, Climate-KIC) for the EIT Awards 2012. The elevator pitch: Sunuru has developed a lightweight support structure onto which solar panels can be installed, allowing it to be used in places where conventional solar energy systems can't. The Sunuru system also improves the efficiency of solar electricity and costs less than a standard design. The founders: The company was founded by Jan van Kranendonk and Thomas de Leeuw in 2010. Both are mechanical engineers and graduated with their masters' degrees on 19 December 2011, but their interests lie far apart. Jan, the inventor, loves the technical challenges. Thomas, responsible for commercial activities, cannot wait to get Sunuru on the market. More info: http://www.eitawards.eu/factsheet_climatekic_sunuru.aspx
